Your Complete Guide to Eloping in the Yukon

Welcome to Canada's Best Kept Secret.

The Yukon is larger than life, and so is your love story.

Planning an elopement is exciting, but planning one in a place you've never been can also feel overwhelming.

  • Where should you stay?

  • When is the best time to come?

  • How do you get married in the Yukon?

  • Should you choose a helicopter, floatplane, or vehicle-accessible location?

  • What if it rains?

We've helped couples from across Canada and around the world create unforgettable Yukon elopements and weddings, so we put together this guide to answer all of those questions in one place.

Whether you're just starting to dream or you're ready to choose a date, welcome. We think you're about to fall in love with the Yukon.

Why Elope in the Yukon?

Some places are beautiful.

The Yukon is unforgettable.

It's a place where the mountains seem endless, turquoise lakes shimmer beneath the northern sky, and the wilderness reminds you just how small—and how incredibly alive—you are.

Imagine stepping out of a helicopter onto a remote mountain summit with nothing but the person you love, the sound of the wind, and a view that stretches farther than you've ever seen.

Or exchanging vows beside a secluded alpine lake where the only witnesses are the mountains, the birds overhead, and the quiet of the North.

There are no crowds.

No timelines dictated by a venue.

No pressure to entertain hundreds of guests.

Just the two of you.

Completely present.

Completely immersed.

Completely free to celebrate your love in a way that feels authentic.

The Yukon has a way of slowing life down. It invites you to breathe a little deeper, wander a little farther, and remember what truly matters.

Long after the flowers have dried and the dress has been packed away, you'll remember how this place made you feel.

Because a Yukon elopement isn't just about getting married.

It's about beginning your greatest adventure in one of the most extraordinary places on Earth.

No two love stories are the same.

Your wedding shouldn't be either.

Whether you're dreaming of soaring above the mountains, landing on a secluded lake, or exchanging vows surrounded by the quiet beauty of the northern wilderness, every adventure is thoughtfully designed around the two of you.

Helicopter Adventure Elopements

For couples who dream big.

Your day begins at the helicopter hangar as excitement starts to build. After a safety briefing and a few photos before takeoff, you'll climb aboard and lift into the Yukon sky.

As the town disappears beneath you, endless mountain ranges, glaciers, turquoise lakes, and untouched wilderness unfold in every direction. Twenty minutes later, you'll touch down somewhere few people will ever have the chance to stand.

With nothing but mountain peaks surrounding you, you'll exchange your vows in complete privacy before popping champagne, exploring the summit together, and taking photographs that feel almost impossible to believe are real.

It's more than a wedding.

It's the adventure of a lifetime.

Float Plane Adventure Elopements

For couples who feel most at home on the water.

There's something magical about watching your plane glide across the lake before gently lifting into the air.

Leaving civilization behind, you'll fly over winding rivers, alpine lakes, and endless wilderness before landing on a remote shoreline or secluded island that's all your own.

The stillness is unlike anything you've experienced.

No crowds.

No distractions.

Just the sound of the water, the mountains around you, and the person you've chosen to spend forever with.

After your ceremony, you'll have time to explore, celebrate, and soak in the incredible beauty of the Yukon before your flight back.

Vehicle Accessible Adventure Elopements

Adventure doesn't always require wings.

Some of the Yukon's most breathtaking locations are accessible by vehicle while still offering the privacy, beauty, and sense of adventure that make an elopement so special.

Whether you're exchanging vows beside a turquoise lake, overlooking dramatic mountain vistas, or tucked away in a quiet corner of the wilderness, these locations offer an unforgettable experience without ever stepping aboard an aircraft.

They're perfect for couples wanting a relaxed adventure, bringing a few guests along, or simply wanting to spend more time exploring some of the Yukon's most iconic landscapes.

No matter which adventure you choose, you'll leave with more than beautiful photographs.

You'll leave with a story you'll tell for the rest of your lives.

The Best Time of Year to Elope in the Yukon

One of the questions we're asked most often is, "When is the best time to elope in the Yukon?"

The truth is, there isn't a wrong answer.

Every season offers something completely unique. Whether you're dreaming of golden mountain landscapes, the dancing Northern Lights, endless summer evenings, or snow-covered peaks, there's a Yukon adventure waiting for you.

That said... here are our favourites.

Fall (Late August – Early October)

Our Favourite Season

If we could recommend just one time of year to elope in the Yukon, it would be fall.

For a few short weeks, the Yukon transforms into a masterpiece of brilliant gold, fiery orange, and rich crimson. The tundra glows beneath the mountains, the air becomes crisp, and the summer crowds disappear.

By late September and early October, something truly magical happens. The valleys are still bursting with vibrant autumn colours while the surrounding mountain peaks begin collecting their first fresh dusting of snow.

It's one of the only times of year you can experience two seasons at once.

Add the return of the Northern Lights, fewer mosquitoes, comfortable hiking temperatures, and breathtaking sunsets, and it's easy to see why fall steals our hearts year after year.

Perfect for couples who want:

  • Vibrant fall colours

  • Fresh mountain snow

  • Northern Lights opportunities

  • Quiet trails and incredible scenery

Spring (May – June)

The Yukon Awakens

Spring is one of the Yukon’s best-kept secrets.

Snow still clings to the mountain peaks while rivers roar back to life and fresh greenery begins covering the landscape. Wildflowers slowly emerge, and every day seems to bring something new.

The scenery feels fresh and alive, and the longer days give us plenty of time to explore before the sun sets.

It's the perfect season for couples who love the feeling of new beginnings.

Perfect for couples who want:

  • Snow-capped mountains

  • Fresh greenery

  • Waterfalls and rushing rivers

  • A quieter travel season

Winter (November – March)

A True Northern Fairytale

Winter in the Yukon feels like stepping inside a snow globe.

Snow blankets the mountains, frozen lakes sparkle beneath the winter sun, and the Northern Lights dance overhead.

Spend your wedding day bundled together before warming up beside a fire, meeting sled dogs, soaking in the hot springs, or chasing the aurora together.

There's something incredibly romantic about the quiet of a Yukon winter.

Perfect for couples who want:

  • Northern Lights

  • Snow-covered mountains

  • Dog sledding adventures

  • Cozy cabins and winter magic

  • A true Arctic experience

Summer (June – August)

Endless Adventure

Summer is when the Yukon comes alive.

The Midnight Sun means almost endless daylight, giving us incredible flexibility for exploring and photography.

Wildflowers blanket the mountainsides, turquoise lakes sparkle beneath clear skies, and hiking trails become fully accessible.

Summer is our busiest season for good reason. It's warm, adventurous, and offers countless opportunities to experience everything the Yukon has to offer.

If you're dreaming of long hikes, alpine summits, and making the absolute most of your trip north, summer is an incredible choice.

Perfect for couples who want:

  • Midnight Sun

  • Warmest temperatures

  • Wildflowers

  • Long hiking adventures

  • Maximum daylight for exploring

No matter which season you choose, one thing stays the same:

The Yukon has an incredible way of making your wedding feel less like an event... and more like the adventure that starts the rest of your lives.

  • 💡 Local Tip: Early October is one of our favorite times of year. The mountains often have a fresh dusting of snow while the valleys are still glowing with brilliant yellow fall colours.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does an adventure elopement cost?

Our adventure elopement experiences start at $2,500 + GST for our vehicle-accessible package, with helicopter and float plane adventures offering even more unforgettable ways to experience the Yukon.

Every couple's vision is unique, so we'll help you choose the experience that best fits your dream, guest count, and budget. No matter which adventure you choose, our goal is to make planning simple, stress-free, and completely unforgettable.

Can we bring guests?

Absolutely!

Our vehicle-accessible micro wedding package includes up to 10 guests, making it perfect for couples who want to share their day with the people they love most.

For helicopter and float plane elopements, guest capacity depends on the aircraft. Because each additional guest requires extra seats and additional flights, there are additional transportation costs. We'll walk you through all of the options and help you choose the experience that best fits your vision and guest list.

No matter which adventure you choose, your wedding will feel intimate, meaningful, and uniquely yours.

Can we bring our dog?

We love when dogs are part of the adventure!

Depending on the location and mode of transportation, many of our elopements can include your four-legged family member in some way, shape, or form. Let us know during the planning process, and we'll do our best to make sure they're included—and, if possible, capture at least one beautiful photo with them.

Please note that pets are not permitted on helicopters or floatplanes, but they can often join you at our vehicle-accessible locations or before take off.

What happens if the weather changes?

The Yukon is wild, and that's part of what makes it so magical.

A little rain or changing weather doesn't automatically mean your adventure is over. In fact, some of our favourite photographs have been taken under moody skies or during a light drizzle.

We always have a Plan B.

For helicopter and float plane adventures, safety is always our highest priority. We work closely with our pilots to monitor conditions leading up to your wedding day and have backup plans ready if Mother Nature has other ideas.

And don't worry—we never leave for a wedding without our signature clear umbrellas! They keep you dry while still letting in beautiful natural light, making for romantic photographs that feel straight out of The Notebook.

No matter what the forecast looks like, we'll be there to guide you through it and make sure your day is every bit as unforgettable as you imagined.

How do we get our marriage licence?

We'll walk you through the entire process.

Getting legally married in the Yukon is surprisingly simple, and we'll provide everything you need to know before you arrive, including where to go, what identification to bring, and the timing requirements.

How far in advance should we book?

The sooner, the better.

Our most popular dates—especially during the summer season—often book months in advance. If you already have a season or specific date in mind, we recommend reaching out as early as possible to give yourselves the most flexibility.

Can we write our own vows?

Absolutely!

Most of our couples choose to write their own personal vows, and we encourage it. Your ceremony should feel authentic, heartfelt, and uniquely yours.

Don't worry if you've never written vows before—we'll guide you through the process. As part of your planning experience, you'll receive our "How to Write Your Wedding Vows" guide, complete with prompts, examples, and helpful tips to make writing your vows feel simple and meaningful.

On your wedding day, we'll take care of all the legal wording required to make your marriage official, while giving you plenty of space to share the promises you've written for one another. We've never been to the Yukon. Is that okay?

Of course!

In fact, most of our couples are visiting the Yukon for the very first time. That's one of our favourite parts of what we do. We'll help you plan not only an unforgettable wedding day but an incredible Yukon adventure you'll remember for the rest of your lives.

Do we need hiking experience?

Not at all.

We offer adventures for every comfort level. Some locations require only a short walk from the landing site or parking area, while others involve a little more exploring. We'll help you choose an experience that matches your abilities and the kind of day you're dreaming about.

Do you drive us to vehicle-accessible locations?

No. While we'll help you plan every detail of your adventure, we aren't a tour company, so transportation isn't included with our vehicle-accessible elopements.

You'll simply need access to your own vehicle or a rental car to get to and from your ceremony location. Don't worry—we'll provide detailed directions, recommendations, and all the information you need to make getting there easy and stress-free.

Our job is to help you have an incredible adventure, and we'll be with you every step of the planning process.

What if we have no idea where to start?
